Because of the Midwestern weather, the arrival of some of our people and baggage was delayed. So we’re a bit behind in starting our reports. We finally reached Monteverde last night, and today we spent the whole day on the run: a hike in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, a look at artisanal chocolate-making, an excursion into the world of bats, and two talks on the history of the Monteverde community and the Monteverde Institute. An hour ago (it’s 11:15 p.m. here) we finished our first story meeting. Tomorrow we are scheduled to run just as hard. We are adjusting to the rigors of field reporting in the tropics and will post as soon as possible. Please stay tuned.
